My approach is warm, authentic, and collaborative, and integrates the latest neuroscience and couples therapy research to help you have the kind of relationship you want and deserve. I am respectful of personal values and lifestyles and tailor our work to fit your unique situation. We address problem areas of your relationship, and then we move on to help you experience a deeper sense of intimacy and fulfillment.
I practice a form of therapy called Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT). EFT is an approach that is backed up by 20 years of empirical research, and is considered a proven form of couple therapy by the American Psychological Association. EFT goes to the heart of the matter: it focuses on what prevents couples from making loving, responsive contact, and then gives them an experience of deeper intimacy and connection.
Having new experiences is key; understanding alone is not sufficient for real change. Therefore, therapy is best treated as a specialized environment where we can directly engage with your emotional responses to have these new, healthier experiences of relatedness. I act as a skilled and compassionate guide to help you make sense of what is happening in your relationship and to facilitate this deeper, more satisfying connection.
